Increasing amount of parked cars The Maltings/ Locke Road - Maltings resident (10th Feb 2022 16:04:36)
As I type this I can imagine the kind of responses I'll get but here goes anyway.....does anything else think the amount of cars and vans parked along The Maltings and Locke Road has increased recently? It's sometimes like trying to navigate a slalom driving down the road. Do loads of households just have multiple cars or are people from other roads parking here. Some don't even seem to use their own driveways...(the blue Renault??). It's been so busy recently and I've witnessed a few near misses (not whilst driving myself).

It is the same situation driving along Tower Road, The Mead and Tunbridge Crescent. Near misses especially where the big oak tree is in the Mead on tight bend clustered with cars. Also turning into Tunbridge Crescent from letter box end, is normally packed on southern side of road, resulting in politely letting cars through whilst hoping no one hits me turning from Headley Road by catholic church. Unfortunately with increasing car ownership many cars are legally parked on road as they are entitled to. It may help if council extended double yellows by letter box in T.C to allow more wiggle room and some double yellows on part of bend by big oak. In the wider picture across Liphook permits may help, although increasing numbers perhaps due to Covid, now work from home rather than park at an office during the day.

I have always been amazed at the number of cars just as you turn into the Maltings from the village end. There are many different cars as though there is a business on the corner (I heard someone joke maybe a brothel) but yes there are many who don't park in their own driveways. They did paint a short length of double yellows there because the cars were parking too close to the corner.
Not much can be done I'm afraid.

Big factor will be all the homeworking since March 2020. Hopefully we will see people going back to their offices soon (in their cars)

Many of the cars parked in the entrance to the Maltings are from Manor Fields, they use it as their overflow and have done for a while.
They don't seem to care how close they get to the Haslemere Road when parking although the short double yellows have helped this a little.

The yellow lines are a joke, it's still very dangerous coming off the Haslemere road and if a car is coming off the Maltings it's pretty chaotic.
