LIBDA bike ride road closures - Sunday 12 June 2022
- Joe (8th Jun 2022  12:47:39)

Forgive me if I've missed the signs, but please could someone confirm what roads will be closed and between what times on Sunday, 12th June, for the LIBDA bike ride.

Many thanks, and good luck to all the riders!

I think you can find some information if you click on the link on the left hand side of this page under Liphook. Its just marked Bike Ride.

No road closures this year for bike ride.

We have not obtained a road closure this year, there has been a change in the rules since the last ride which made this much more difficult.

We have changed the route (info on our web site) and will be staggering the start to avoid congestion which will improve rider safety (our main concern) and disruption to local traffic.

We would appreciate it if all drivers going down Portsmouth Road (a.k.a. the old A3) between 9:45 and 10:30 on Sunday 12 June would take additional care, especially where The Firs (the road past the Church Centre) joins.

I loaded the GPX file, and it appears to be the usual route, ie. down the old A3, turn left at the falling tree, left in Rogate. Up the hill, through Borden Wood, along through Milland, then Linchmere and down the Haslemere Road...what has changed?

[editor]The start doesn't go into the Square. It goes up Victoria Way, then past Silent Garden and the Church Centre, joins the old A3 at The Firs. Then continues as before. [/editor]

The only really possible problem I can envisage is the right turn at the Firs onto Portsmouth road, I know they can't close the road, but hopefully the crowds will ensure the traffic can't go fast and I'd hope most cars are willing to be patient and give way to the riders, good luck weather seems perfect so far!

Just to clarify that the Liphook Bike Ride is not organised by LiDBA.

The event has been organised and been run by The Crankers for the past few years.

However some of the LIDBA members will be assisting with marshalling duties on Sunday.

Have a good and safe ride!
