Watering the Flower Displays around the village
- Liphook In Bloom (28th Jul 2022  12:05:00)

Nearly every day our volunteers are out and about around the village watering the flower beds and baskets during this exceptionally dry period.
We are extremely grateful to our watering team which is managing to maintain the beauty of our splendid displays.
If you would like to become a volunteer maintaining the displays or joining the watering team please let us know.

Hi,
Doing a great job for the village appearance, well done .

As there are now current restrictions on water use in our county, where do the supplies come from?

Currently there are no restrictions on water supply for watering.
However if they do come in force we will have to review our watering strategy.

Hello. I am one of the waterers in Liphook.

Firstly I'd like to correct an error. There is or shortly will be a hosepipe ban in areas of Hampshire served by Southern Water, but Liphook is served but SOUTH EASTERN WATER which does not currently have a ban.

All this is somewhat irrelevant as Liphook in Bloom has always (since I became a volunteer about 6 years ago) used recycled water (there's a big sign on the bowser). Those of you who have walked down Midhurst Road past the Millennium Centre may have noticed a huge black cylindrical tank behind a fence. This collects rainwater from the Centre roof and it this which is used to water the hanging baskets and most of the beds.

One last thing - I offer my apologies to those who were trying to get a lie in on the Monday of the heat wave. We were due to water the baskets that day but for safety we had to start at 6.00am and the water pump is rather noisy. Sorry if you were disturbed.

So Liphook - rest assured the village flowers are not going to cause a water shortage enjoy them!

Thanks for clearing up the point about the water supply and the hard work the volunteers do to make the place we all call home looking so good.
