Did anyone meet the Queen, or at an event being hosted?
- paul (9th Sep 2022 21:18:00)
Hi,
I served in the Royal Navy, and the Queen was known across all Armed services as "The Boss".
Her Majesty was head of the Navy, Army, and Royal Airforce.
It was a privilege to protect the Head of State.
God Bless.

I spent money with her face on it and my connection to her is as close as yours for I probably didn't come within 1000 meters of her like you, nor did my actions make the slightest bit of difference to her life... but yeah,
She seems to be a lovely lady and we wont see anything like that again at least in a public office etc.
Many grandmothers passed away yesterday and in reality they all had the same character, we shouldn't forget them, be they Royal or ours.

Really unnecessary Sam.
I never met her but saw her from a distance in Exeter when I was a student there.
She meant a lot to many people even if they didn’t meet her so I suggest we all be kind and if you don’t share the same opinion, fine, but maybe consider it’s nice to be nice and if you don’t have something kind to say, perhaps don’t say it.
She represented dignity and kindness in a world which needs this in great supply.

Not unnecessary at all, I did say she was a lovely lady and would add very important and met probably more important people than than just about anyone.
However, and not at all related to her, some of the tears and emotion around it is no different than those North Korean's crying over their "dear leader" there is nothing wrong with that expression or indeed my own here, but some of the stories and ownership going is quite funny and unreal. What's even funnier is how some take ownership and convert mild expression into offense, how bloody dare you cut your lawn today,, don't you know the queen died,,, its mental
I reiterate, despite not being a royalist or indeed a fan or any monarchy, this lady was indeed something special and a great loss to many, we wont see someone like this every again and that is a very sad thing. I am personally sad she is gone, the world she was in against the world we will experience in the future wont have people like her and that is terrible.
But if you tell me a story whereby you never met her, you never even got close, and one whereby she had no idea who you are yet you imply you DID something and she knew it... I will laugh
Don't egg up a connection to her when no such connection existed, its embarrassing

In which case it’s fairly simple..don’t read this thread to read the stories and scroll past!
Personally I’d love to hear any stories from people who had an encounter with her.

Why oh why, do so many pages on here have to be an argument? especially at this time. Just a few messages of sorrow and condolence would have been enough. I know its called Liphook Talkback, but in a lot of cases its Liphook Bitchy Talkback. At this present time it is very inappropriate. God bless her Majesty, and God save the King.

Hi,
I saw the Queen, and the Queen Mother, they were on board the Royal Yacht Britannia.
This was for the 1977 Silver Jubilee and Fleet Review at Portsmoth's Spithead. There were 180 ships from 18 nations. 10 lines, 7 miles long.
My ship the destroyer HMS London, saw the Queen wave at us crew on our upper deck close by.
The sea was rough that day, and it was very windy. We gave three cheers to Her Majesty with our sailors hats.
During this joyous gesture my hat flew off to the sea below!

It's such a shame that what should have been a nice page for people to pass on their memories of meeting the Queen or even getting close to her is ruined by a **** !

Bull**** takes many form's, it sneaks in at times like these and it disguises itself as fact under the sentiment of national mourning.
Be on your guard for people adding nonsense to sentiment for its still Bull**** and if you buy Bull**** you will inherit Bull****
Don't invent truth, invented truth is lies.
Don't for god's sake make yourself look like a demented North Korean p***ing yourself over a fictional story you felt you needed to tell in order to attach yourself to something you had literally no attachment too....
its lie, you are masking it with the sentiment, stop that, stop it now, your lying and that is wrong
