Lemmings of Liphook - New trend?
- k (30th Sep 2022 09:31:05)
Has anybody else noticed the new trend for pedestrians to cross the mini roundabout by anchor from between Barbers shop side to Lloyds bank directly across the giveway lines painted on the roads.
Not only is the longest way to cross this part of the road - but extremely dangerous - always been some one in dark clothes ( bodes ill for the darkening days ) Male adult - not showing any difficulty in walking. Did suggest today in a pleasant way wasn't best place to cross - but seemed to fain couldn't hear. All of this within a few feet of the crossings!!
Drivers be aware. This is not the first time happened - not a good role model to the youngsters either.

K
May I suggest you familiarise yourself with the highway code before you get behind the wheel again? To Suggest that pedestrians are "Lemmings" implies that you believe they are in the wrong for attempting to cross the road and that motorists have priority over them.
Rule H2 - Rule for drivers, motorcyclists, horse drawn vehicles, horse riders and cyclists:
*At a junction you should give way to pedestrians crossing or waiting to cross a road into which or from which you are turning.
*When people are crossing or waiting to cross at a junction, other traffic should give way
*if people have started crossing and traffic wants to turn into the road, the people crossing have priority and the traffic should give way
Pedestrians may use any part of the road and use cycle tracks as well as the pavement unless there are signs prohibiting pedestrians.

Some years ago, on a professional Met Police Driving Course, we were asked, ' When does a pedestrian have priority ' most of us, including me got it wrong ~ according to our instructor who said
' Always ' .

Next time shan't bother trying to stop someone from possibly getting runover for crossing actually on the roundabout GIveway lines
Hope you drivers who I was trying to warn about this dangerous trend -do keep an eye out for them. Commonsense - to cross walking on give way lines I don't think so!
I was NOT turning into road by the way ANON.
SORRY I BOTHERED TO TRY & WARN PEOPLE
GOOD LUCK OUT THERE - you're on your own from now on
Lets hope we don't see an accident when use of safe crossings so close.

OH NO ! Don’t go, come back and save us with your posts, am sure your posts have saved a few lives already.
Please do a post about malaria or something, that kills many thousands of people a year and with your advice on this very forum you could save them all.
