Strikes
- Interested (27th Apr 2023 18:51:03)
All these strikes are the public loosing patience with these long drawn out strikes that are damaging peoples work and lives. Everyone is feeling the pinch so isn’t it time strikers saw sense and excepted the wage offers . Strikes are so damaging to the country and makes things worse. It seems the general public are losing patience and are not supporting them anymore. Any thoughts on a way forward.

The phrasing used in the original posting is an echo of the way “paul” posts on here.

Totally agree with op . It’s all going back to the dark days of unions trying to run the country. I see the railway unions are going to try and sabotage with strikes the coronation, Eurovision and the cup final great. It’s all political something has to be done there must be a better way it’s bringing the country to its knees which makes us all worse off.

Me- That's ok we will just let the richest keep on ripping the rest of society off and ignore the people struggling like we always do.
This country is just becoming more and more selfish by the day. I'm alright Jack lets ignore the fact that people work long hard hours and yet still struggle every month.

Re: Strikes

Yes Pete people do work long hours always have done to put food on the table sometimes two or three jobs. The thing is if we go on like we are then there will be no jobs for anyone more and more business going to the wall because of strikes it’s a fact so more and more jobs lost. Strikes are a thing of the past they only cause misery for everyone. If we go into deep depression everyone will suffer like no one has seen before so it’s down to the people of this country to come to their senses and be reasonable about pay we can all do something to get by if we don’t then we are lost .

I hate the Tories and what they have done to this country. However, I hate the Unions as well and in 2023 strikes are an abomination and disgrace. Cannot believe that in this day and age there is support for an action that endangers the lives of the sick and harms the future of our children. Disgusting

wages have been supressed since the tory/lib dem coalition got in 2010 and then it's been carried on by Cameron, May, Johnson and now Sunak
13 years later we are all poorer and pay the highest energy bills in the world
enough is enough
i'm fully supportive of rail workers, driving instructors, border control, teachers and most of all doctors and nurses
if it means my mrs misses an appointment or my kids have to be home schooled - then i totally understand
good luck to the unions
this is the most corrupt government in history
and we need a general election

Re: Strikes

Ok Gareth general election so who do we have?. The only other party capable of running the country Labour but don’t hold your breath it will be any better because we have had them before and it all went the same way . If they come to power they will need a massive amount of money to give all the people on strike what they want so where will it come from you and me no different. And as for trying to get the country going again to get all the businesses back more money?? . It’s not as easy as you think. If the labour come in we will have a massive deficit for many years Just like last time. A very difficult decision.

I will stop supporting strikers when the government stops allowing business to dictate policy. What's good for the Goose.

Really it’s not rocket science if the country is booming and the economy is good then everyone benefits rich and poor. Money can be spent on all the things that people want. But what’s happening now with strikes it’s dragging the country down the remainers from Brexit are doing the same because they can’t except the result the remainers in the civil service are plotting all the time to reverse the decision which is totally out of order. We are going back to the bad old times of strikes ruining our country.

Or Pete, the business owners could just say sod it, it’s not worth it and either close the business or relocate overseas! Either way the end result for the employees is the same. Unemployed!!

it's really quite depressing how posters on here just quote bile from the daily mail
the daily mail the 'newspaper' that supported the black shirts, call migrants rats and said team gb olympic team wasn't 'british' enough
it should be banned

@Gareth Rees, typical leftie arrogance, if you don’t agree with something, want it banned or cancelled. Very democratic!

Re: Strikes
- Local (30th Apr 2023 11:19:15)
You are spot on Ian business are fed up with strikes and people not turning up for work. Anyone trying to run a company must be at their wits end to keep going let alone pay out more money at this time. Workers don’t seem to care if a business is going under how stupid is that public sector workers should stand back and take a long hard look at what they are doing to the country if we go into deep depression it will be much much worse so surely it would be better to knuckle down now and get the country up and running and prosperous again.
