Congratulations

Well done Bill, Angela and Nick!

Mmm well done???
I think the Conservative Party have been given a bit of a kick up the backside in East Hampshire and need to look carefully at how they are running the district.
In Liphook we have decided to keep our Tory candidates but ALL 3 need to think hard about representing the wishes and thoughts of local residents of Bramshott and Liphook, and not just tow the political line.
I would like to see far more proactive responses from them all, and in particular Nick Sear.....who is particularly quiet on all topics and appears to do nothing at all...... and Angela Glass....... who appears to take her role as Planning Portfolio holder as more important than representing Liphook.
With the Lib Dems and Independents, in particular the Whitehill and Bordon Residents Party, in ascendance the Conservatives will have to start to listen, and more importantly ACT, for their local residents!

Residents went to the polls on Thursday to cast their vote in the local elections in East Hampshire.

More than 120 candidates put themselves forward to represent local people as councillors on East Hampshire District Council.

There were also seven town and parish council elections.

The count was held at the Taro Leisure Centre in Petersfield on Friday, revealing a turnout of 35%.

The number of councillors elected for each political party are as follows:

Conservative: 19
Liberal Democrat: 14
Whitehill & Bordon Community Party: 6
Green: 2
Labour: 1
Independent: 1

Yes, another M, well done to them! I know two of the three and they are decent people who have no other agenda than to be of service to the local community. Regardless of what is happening at a national level, these people do deserve our appreciation as do all those that try to make the local community a better place. (rather than those that just sit on social media throwing cynicism and spite)

Yes our district councillors have been in a long time and have done a good job but I think it’s time they took stock and perhaps be a little bit more vocal for Liphook especially on planning matters which is a very controversial thing in liphook. Let’s see if they come up trumps they have nothing to lose.

I think it really is time our local councillors become highly visible and start doing things that have real, tangible impact on the community they have been elected to serve.

Sitting on Planning Committees, Finance Committee etc is all well and good - and needed - but as our taxes fund local services / local government / local councillors (via allowances) they now need to step up the pace and deliver.

In all my years here in Liphook I have never once met any of them - either on the doorstep, or at events, or just out and about. To me, they are invisible.
