Royal Oak, Hollywater re-opening
- MikeT (13th Nov 2023  21:48:25)

There has been recent activity at the boarded-up Royal Oak pub in Liphook Road Hollywater. Today it is no longer boarded up and there were even signs of life so I stopped to have a nose.

I met Graham who will be the new Landlord of the pub when it re-opens..............he hopes as soon as Thursday this week subject to last minute cleaning, sterilising pipes, deliveries etc.

Graham doesn't have aims to create yet another gastro-pub, which I'm sure will be a relief to many of us locals. He told me he's made various announcements about re-opening on social media platforms but wasn't aware of Liphook Talkback, so here he is.

Do tell us more Mike, hope it is true, we need a good local pub which is not food driven, hard to achieve these days.

Good to hear this. Searches on social media , Google etc turn up nothing about a reopening though.
Is there a link to a new FB page or whatever?

Will there be free lifetime parking for NON customers? Otherwise the new landlords name will be dragged through the mud for lacking community spirit.

Just been down to the Royal Oak and it opened at 5pm today (or maybe just before as it was raining), Graham and Emma are lovely and we met loads of people who dropped in on the off chance that the pub was opening today.
We will pop along on Saturday to see what the live band is like, Wishing the new landlords all the best.

Great news that there will be live music. The pub was an important local music venue a long time ago.

This is excellent news. I must endeavour to pop in there in the next few days.

Also, I hear The Temple at Liss Forest has reopened as well. Nice walk there from Liphook when the ranges are open

This is great news. I hope they build on its reputation as a great music pub. I wonder if they could ever persuade Jimmy Page to play there again?

Was a great Saturday evening, good band. Good luck to the new landlord and landlady, nice people.
