Haslemere Road water - Mark (25th Jan 2025 - 19:24:29)
I’m sure you’ve already highlighted this but can anyone suggest a person to contact about the huge ongoing flood of water on Haslemere Road after the railway bridge. During the frost recently I had to go on the A3 to Haslemere as I assumed it would be incredibly icy and dangerous.
I imagine it’s a burst main as it’s been going on for too long to be just overflowing from lake/ditch. I know that area is on the border of Hants, Surrey and West Sussex so I don’t know which council I can call.

I wondered whether it could be run-off from the land that’s been cleared between the Haslemere Road and Devil’s Lane? Could the loss of so much vegetation have caused this, as it does seem constant and much worse than before it was cleared?

It seems likely that a pipe under the Haslemere road has become blocked meaning that surface water run off from the area between the railway and Highfield lane is forced to run across the road.
Fixing the problem is likely to be disruptive and might well require a road closure if the pipe is damaged rather than just blocked.

It's just a further example of why everything in this country is in a mess.

Yes, it is a blocked pipe. The key problem is that it runs in the county boundary and a question of whose job it is from Hampshire County Council and West Sussex County Council has yet to be resolved.
There is every possibility that the pipe will collapse at some stage with water continuously running across the road and damaging the surface.
I would have a word about this with your local Hampshire County Councillor in the first instance.

If I held a senior position in either HCC or WSCC.,I think that I would be rather more worried about the risk of a serious accident taking place whilst my organisation played pass the parcel with the problem!

Might be worth taking a picture, to highlight the issue to any potential/ current planning application in that area?
You can be assured any potential developer is not going to highlight the issue to EHCC.
